He cried and fell to his mom to show his bruise on his knee but he was talking too erratically for her to understand, so she guides him so he'll calm down. After he calms down and tells her what happened, she takes him to the nurse and she makes johnny tell the nurse what happened. After he did so he got a band aid and was able to play and win the scoring goal for his team

Mama Cat, Papa Cat, and Pip were beaming, and even Mrs. Whiskers peeked in from the doorway, waving a small gift bag. Whiskers's eyes widened. "You remembered!" he whispered, his voice choked with happy tears. Mama Cat chuckled. "Of course, we remembered, sleepyhead! We just wanted to make it a really special surprise. We planned this all along!" Papa Cat winked. "We even managed to keep it a secret from your little sister—that was the hardest part!" That night, surrounded by the warmth of his family and friends, Whiskers blew out his candles, making a wish for lots more secret surprises and many more happy birthdays. She sent the elf shoes to Mars in a rocket ship but they didn’t come back. She left the elf shoes in the alley hoping a shoeless person would take the elf shoes but nobody took the elf shoes. After a few days she tried the elf shoes on again and this time, to Cheryl's surprise, they were perfect. She couldn't understand why the elf shoes started to feel better after a few days had passed but from that day forward she wore her elf shoes everywhere.
